Bedfordshire and Luton
Smoke Free Alliance is a county-wide multi-agency group committed
to smoke free environments, helping smokers to stop and promoting
a tobacco free society.
Organisations involved
include local authority environmental health departments, the local
Stop Smoking Services, health promotion professionals from the local
Primary Care Trusts, the Healthy Schools Team and Trading Standards,
whose job it is to control sales of age-restricted products, such
as tobacco.
The Alliance
aims to:
- Reduce exposure to
second hand smoke and promote environments that support non-smoking
through the implementation of no smoking policies for workplaces
and other public places.
- Reduce the numbers
of children and young people taking up smoking and help those
that have started to stop.
- Reduce the number
of adult smokers by providing information, advice and support
on giving up smoking.
What does the
Smoke Free Alliance get involved with?
The Smoke
Free Alliance receives funding to develop projects such as the ‘Get
Fresh’ smoke free eating guide, Smoke Free Families, No Smoking
